Motivation and Goal

The goal of EMN is to provide a formal yet practical notation for Event Modeling. Event Modeling has proven useful for designing systems by making workflows, data, and interactions visible. However, until now it lacked a formal notation suitable for exchange, tooling, and automation. EMN addresses this gap by defining a precise, XML-based specification inspired by BPMN, enriched with Diagram Interchange (DI) for visualization. The motivation is to provide a standard that supports collaboration across stakeholders, from business experts to developers. This section explains why EMN exists and what value it brings to modern system design practices.
